Volunteering from Civil Engineering students

A group of 8 students from Civil Engineering 4th year are working as per the direction of Civil Structure Assessment Team to access damages to the buildings in KU. The team led by Kanchan Niraula (Civil Engg. 4th year) comprises Milan Khadka, Saroj Neupane, Nabin Kafle, Prabhash Pokharel, Bal Krishna Dahal, Pujan Shrestha and Samrat Raut.

As per the initial inspection, there are cases of minor damage in the buildings. The students shall submit their reports in a few days to Prof Dr. Ramesh Kumar Maskey and Dr. Prachand Man Pradhan who are leading a five member team including Mr. Shyam Sundar Khadka, Mr. Ramesh Adhikari and Mr. Anjani Koiral formed for the Inspection and Reporting of Structural Damages.

KU volunteers in Dhulikhel Hospital and rehabilitation camp

A team of 40 students from Central Campus have been working in coordination with Dhulikhel Hospital.

Four temporary toilets have been constructed in the rehabilitation camp in Tundikhel, Dhulikhel on 30 April. Nearly 300 victims are staying in the camp. They have been supplied with sanitary materials prepared in the pharmacy lab of KU.

"KU volunteer are instructed to work mainly in nearby areas," said Prof. Dr. Kanhaiya Jha, "because Dhulikhel Hospital needs a large number of volunteers in its premises and rehabilitation camp."

Translators from CIKU with Chinese medical team

Eleven volunteers from Confucius Institute at KU are working with Chinese medical team as translators in Dhulikhel Hospital KU Hospital from 29 April.

The volunteers led by Mr. Sudhir Shakya is working in coordination with the Chinese Commander Risky, Medical Coordinator from Nepal Army Dr. Y M Singh and medical team from Dhulikhel Hospital.

The task of coordinating and facilitating CIKU volunteers is being done by four students from KU central campus, Rajan Khadka, Narendra Bahadur Singh, Arjun Thapa and Netra Prasad Pandey.

KU formed volunteer teams

KU formed five volunteering teams with specific task allotment:
a. Civil structure assessment team (7 students from 4th year Civil Engineering)
b. Medical Team (Pharmacy and Biotech Students from the Central Campus)
c. Construction team (Technical Training Centre staffs and 10 volunteers for construction)
d. Residential Staffs Children's Team (10 members)
e. Volunteering team (Communication and other assistance)

* KU volunteers are requested
i. to go to places only with prior approval from the team leader of Mobilization of Volunteers.
ii. not to collect any monetary help individually
iii.  to refrain from positing sensitizing and self-advertising images in social media.

KU formed eight functional teams

Kathmandu University (KU) formed eight functional teams on 29 April 2015 to work in post-earthquake situation.

The teams have been assigned the following tasks:
a. Inspection and reporting of structural damages
b. Communication and circulars
c. Study on the status of KU staff, students and their kins
d. Assessment and costing of repair and maintenance
e. Mobilization of volunteers
f. Resource generation
g. Supply and transportation
h. Help desk

The teams will work in collaboration with different organizations.
